Information gathered will help in line_4: determining the origin and evolution of Titan's atmosphere. Obser- line_5: vations have never been made in the proposed wavelength regime, line_6: allowing for the discovery of new chemical constituents, most line_7: importantly formaldehyde. ! question: 3 section: 1 line_1: This observation consists of a 1.5 hour exposure using the HRS line_2: in the large science aperture with the G270M filter to capture line_3: formaldehyde at 3170 Angstroms. ! question: 4 section: 1 line_1: Very fine resolution and specific wavelengths are critical to this line_2: proposal in order to distinguish formaldehyde from other compounds. line_3: A groundbased observation would not be able to find trace amounts line_4: of formaldehyde and other minor species due to distance and inter- line_5: ference of Earth's atmosphere. This proposal requires spectroscopy, line_6: therefore a groundbased observation could not return the required line_7: data. ! question: 4 section: 2 line_1: Using Synphot at 2700 A we calculate .135 counts per second per line_2: diode. For this reason an exposure upwards of one hour is line_3: necessary, although the actual count rate might be optimized at line_4: the central wavelength specified in the exposure logsheet. line_5: Only one target acquisition will be necessary. ! question: 7 section: 1 line_1: Data reduction and analysis will be done at STScI with the aid of line_2: a Science Data Analyst. I will use existing resources, such as line_3: STSDAS. ! !end of general form text general_form_address: lname: LEWYCKY fname: GEORGE mi: R title: MR. category: PI addr_1: 7 DURST DRIVE city: MILLTOWN state: NJ zip: 08850 country: USA phone: 908-846-1216 ! ! end of general_form_address records !
