So far I know of 2 people who were victims of this tragic event

  • Robert Andrew Spencer, known as "Spence". He was in my high school class at St. Joseph's
  • Lyudmila Ksido - I worked with at my current job NY City Transit, but she left Transit and took a job at the Trade Center

I wrote this at work the day of the tragedy

      Hello everyone,

Im ok for now.........Tuesday is a day I will never forget.
I got off my bus downtown at Chambers Street, very near the
World Trade Center. Around 9am is when I saw all of this.

At first what looked like a ticker tape parade coming down
later was followed by cops, emergency vehicles all over the place.
I could only see the right side out of my bus window.
I couldnt see the full scope of all of this until our bus was stopped
and I got off the bus. Then I saw two LARGE holes up at the top
of one of the towers, I couldnt see the other tower. I was
in complete shock and baffled. This looked like something
from a Hollywood movie, I couldnt tell if it was for real or not or
      even a bad dream!!!!!!

On the street was chaos, dismay, sadness, people breaking down,
I was in shock and tearing for about 10 minutes and then I decided
to TRY to get to work in Brooklyn. Suprisingly the subways were
operating to Brooklyn so I made it there. Then I was with my
co-workers watching the TV at work and within 30 minutes the first
building collapsed. Everyone here knows someone who works
there. Im grateful I was lucky to escape all of this into Brooklyn
and all my co-workers made it ok along with my family and friends.
We then saw the 2nd building collapse, it was so horrific and scary.

Another co-worker was generous enough to let me stay overnite
      with him here in Brooklyn.
I had no way to get home. Bridges and Tunnels were closed
so my bus had no way to bring me home.
Plus I was just plain scared to go anywhere or do anything.

These horrific events have affected everyone here and elsewhere
in ways we cant foresee right now. We all still cant believe
how all this happened and was coordinated. Also the fact
that fighter jets are patrolling New York City is something
thats hard to fathom. Also 3 Navy ships are in the vicinity also.
I feel safer in Brookyln than being in Manhattan also, my family
and friends were in complete shock and worried about me and my
dad who work here in NYC.

I experienced the first World Trade Center explosion also.
My office was smack in front of the parking garage that
exploded, I was rocked out of my seat and stranded for hours
and I was scared for over a month. Now this is the real Mccoy!!!

I've never seen this city practically crippled and at a standstill,
I was just in the city Sunday to see the Broadway on Broadway
where the cast of MAMMA MIA performed Dancing Queen, and
it uplifted me. Only to be taken away in just barely 2 days!!

This year hasnt been a good year as all of you already know with
my mother dying from cancer and now this!!!!!!!!!

Just today THURSDAY was a nightmare again........I made it
to work using my Bus finally since they opened Lincoln Tunnel
and then as I entered work just after 9:30am they evacuated us.
I left work and Brooklyn and tried to get home only to have
4 more evacuations........I finally made it home around 4pm.....

Our Phones are overloaded so dont get worried if you cant
get through or I dont get back to any of you calling me...

Me and my family and friends are all ok. I know some people
who are still missing, we just have to wait.

Lets all stay together, be careful and be street-smart everyone!!!!!

Try our best to help our children through all this.

One of my many photos of the World Trade Center

Taken 11/17/98 at John Glenn's ticker tape parade

This is a cool photo I took of some ticker tape, in front of Trinity Church and behind it is the World Trade Center
