Be patient this a popular web site of mine and the images take a few minutes to load!! I just made thumbnails to speed it up

Below are sets of photos I took during my Cancun trip in July '98. These are of Chichen Itza (not Chicken Pizza!!). Which is a major Mayan site consisting of a fantastic pyramid which I climbed up. Its called the Kukulkan's Pyramid and during the equinox the stairway turns into a serpent !!

The Caracol or observatory was used by the Mayan astronomers. Mayan Astronomy was very advanced for their time. Their calendar is much like ours,

I loved this trip since I'm into archaeology, nature and astronomy. If you go I strongly suggest visiting XCARET. Its an eco-archaeological park and its fantastic if they had penguins there I would have applied for a job and not returned to New Jersey.

The walk up the pyramid is alot easier than coming down. The stairs are very small, back then they had small feet. Me and others were actually walking down sideways .

I'm planning to return again in a few years (2000-2002??) Id like to see more of the Mayan ruins and hopefully see some of the islands and CHICXULUB where there was a massive asteroid that impacted Earth 65 Million ys ago!!

As of July '99 I recently heard from someone recently there and she informed me that tourists are not allowed to enter the observatory because of people stealing 'pieces' of it.......Sad isnt it........Same thing happened with the Plymouth Rock
