Below are sets of photos I took at Cape Kennedy ranging from a nite launch, to the crawler, and even the Vehicle Assembly Building where you can see an SRB being built!!
This is a photo I took of the first Hubble Servicing mission launch. Not
bad for an idiot proof 35mm camera!! This was a nite launch also the whole
sky lit up as if the Sun sneaked out for a few minutes. It was my first
and only witness of a launch I just missed the Cassini missions launch by
3 days. Its a wild experience seeing a launch, definitely see at least one
in your lifetime. Was suprised me the most was how fast it took off. It
looked so slow on TV. Also I didnt hear or feel anything!! Strange huh? I
later found out that factors such as wind speed and direction can affect
whether you hear or feel anything!!
This is launch pad 39A or 39B I cant tell which one.
I got a wild tour from the manager of the Shuttle's crawler and I got some
wild photos coming up.
Again this is launch pad 39A or 39B I cant tell which one.
Main entrance to the Cape's visitor center
This is where the Firing room is. Where the launch is controlled. If you
saw the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster this building should ring a
bell.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Shuttle and its workings. The Crawler is a unique structure to move the Shuttle (as well as Rockets) from the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Bldg) to the Launch Pad. The speed is about 1 mile an hour.
One of the crawlers from a distance. In many ways it resembles ocean oil
drilling structures. The manager of the Crawler who showed me and a friend
around actually worked on oil drilling structures before he worked at the
Cape.
Bottom of the Crawler
A wheel of the crawler. Each one of those yellow sections weighs a Ton!!!
Top of the Crawler
This is one of the many driver seats. I got to sit in!!
obviously without the keys !!!

This is where they assemble the Shuttle and Rockets along with payloads.
Inside the VAB. I got to see an SRB (solid rocket booster) being
constructed.
A montage of images I took of the nite launch of the First Hubble Telescope repair missions
