Orlova docked in Ushaia, Argentina en route to Antarctica in 2002
I can't believe its been 10 years already !!!!!!!!!!
Back in December 2002 my lifelong dream of seeing the continent Antarctica happened.
Above are some of my favorite images taken with my digital camera.
My love of penguins and quest for adventure
was fulfilled 200% by this expedition.
We left from
Ushuaia which is at the tip of
Argentina facing the Antarctica Peninsula. Traveling the
Drake Passage was very rough, and yes I was seasick and everything flew in in my cabin from the strong currents.
Yes I would go again. It was beautiful, peaceful, exotic, safe and a dream to me.
I found a great deal with Natural Habitat
Adventures based in Colorado after shopping around for years.
Quark Expeditions was the carrier and we used a Russian expedition vessel with a very experienced crew.
Also I wouldn't consider Celebrity or Princess cruises to Antarctica, stick with a smaller expedition ship such as the Orlova since the regulations are tight about how many passengers can take landings using the Zodiac boats. Plus they are more experienced in these expeditions. You won't have a true experience of the continent and wildlife since they can't navigate in tighter areas like Iceberg Alley, etc.
Why did I go ? My love of Penguins, and this opportunity stared me right in my face and I had the time and money to finally see Penguins in the natural habitat.
I have a manuscript about my recent trip to the distant continent of Antarctica back in December of 2002.
Along with writing about my fatuation with the flightless tuxedoed bird - the penguin. I also highlight what it took for preparation of such a unique trip. This includes everything ranging from special clothing and photography needs to special accessories.
The amount of eco-tourists visiting Antarctica is increasing steadily according to Antarctica Cruise and Travel Guide - The Basics, and International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators has several documents regarding tourism statistics to Antarctica

Don't waste any money on those wristbands, or natural remedies or Over The Counter stuff trust me they do not work especially in the rough seas entering Antarctica especially the Drake Passage.
Depending on your medical situation check with your doctor about these two medications:
